Uan Rasey Trumpet Guru

Uan Rasey

You might not know the name, but you’ve heard him your entire life. For 30 years Uan was first chair trumpet at MGM studios. That is his horn on “Chinatown”, that’s his horn playing the Gershwin suite in Gene Kelly’s “An American in Paris”, that’s his horn in the original 1930’s version of “Mutiny on the Bounty.” Uan played on countless Billy May records, including the legendary Sinatra sessions for Capitol, as well as with Bing Crosby, Henry Mancini, Nat King Cole, Doris Day and just about everyone else, including the Monkees! He coached Harry James, Arturo Sandoval and has been Jack Sheldon’s trumpet teacher and guru for over twenty years.
